JANUARY 2009
I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who remembers Gibbs as they go about their day-to-day activities. Because of your dedication we have nearly $1,400 on the way from box tops submissions. We also have accumulated nearly 10,000 Coke reward points which can be cashed in for supplies. Used printer cartridges turned in have a value (so far) of over $270. Several other
“Trash to Treasure” projects will soon pay out and we will reap even more benefits. We also re- ceived a check for over $85 from the Duck-Duck- Goose sale as a result of individuals who specified Gibbs Elementary at check out. All this is in addition to the more than $1,000 raised at the summer rummage sale. These result in “free money” that can be used to pay expenses for our major fund raisers, provide classroom supplies or fund field trips/field day t-shirts for the children, among many other great projects supported by the PTA. As you shop, if you notice any additional opportunities like
these please take advantage of them...and if we haven’t already promoted it let us know so that others can join you in your support.
What a great year 2009 was...and I know 2010 willeven be better! While it may not always feel like
it...fundraising is not the pri- mary function of the PTA. We are here to help connect home and school. We want to support our children as they
learn and grow. We want to help keep our teachers fresh and motivated. So many parents and school staff work very hard to keep the PTA successful.
I am very grateful to be a part of such a wonderful group of people and our children are lucky to benefit from such dedication.
Speaking of multiple motivations, the Boosterthon is such a great program to not only raise money, but to enrich our children and motivate school staff.
I hope that everyone is able to provide some support, not only financial...ask your kids what they have learned from the team
and look for opportunities to reinforce the great lessons that our Boosterthon representatives provide.
